The Resource Center
The FamilyWorks Resource Center is a family support center where members of the community can gather together, meet neighbors, find and share information and resources, and have opportunities to participate in free classes, workshops, and events.
In the servicesthat we provide, we support the growth and development of all family and community members. We believe in community collaboration, creating trusting and responsive partnerships, and maintaining respectful relationships. We offer free classes and services for adults (life skills classes such as: computer tutoring, life coaching, employment advice, and parenting classes), teen parent support groups, tutoring for school age children, and playgroupsfor children (birth to 5 years old) along with their parents. We encourage and rely on input and information from our community when choosing the programs and activities that we provide. Underlying all we do here at FamilyWorks are the Family Support Principles.
We also provide information and referral to community members–providing people with resources and connections to other agencies that can help meet their needs. On Thursdays, a WIC nutritionist from the Seattle/King County Dept of Health is in the Resource Center providing appointments. She can be reached at the North Seattle Public Health Dept (206-296-4765) to make an appointment.
A helpful source for community resources can be found here.
Because of our partnership with the local consignment store, Kids on 45th, and the generous donations of community members, we are able to provide free, used clothes books and toys for young children. They are sorted into bins and you may come and take what you need.

The Food Bank
Nourishing and Strengthening individuals and families through emergency food and support services.
“The staff and volunteers make me feel welcome and help meet the needs of my family.” ~ a food bank customer.
The FamilyWorks Food Bank provides weekly groceries to people who are in need of food and who live in the following zip codes:
We also work to make available the following products
First time customers are asked to bring a photo ID and proof of address.
Food Bank Hours:
Volunteers are critical to the operation of the Food Bank. Over 135 volunteers contributed 3,690 hours to the food bank. Through the product deliveries of Northwest Harvest and Food Lifeline and the partnerships of local stores and people who organize food drives on our behalf, we help to increase the nutritional status of 2750 people each year.
Do you have some great ideas on how we can get the community involved in generating food for the food bank? We’d love to have you hear from you at any time. Contact Ava by email .
