Well, we had a wonderful time last Saturday – we collected TWO semi-trucks of food! The total weight isn’t in yet, but last year we only had 1.5 semis of food….. so things are lookin’ good this year! Check out some photos below, and click on our Flickr feed to the right to see more. A huge THANK YOU to all our volunteers, the Postal Service, the Letter Carriers themselves, our food bank staff, and last but not least – YOU, the Wallingford community, for coming together and showing us all that food security is important to you!

Tomorrow (SATURDAY) is the day you’ve been waiting for! Leave your non-perishable, pre-packaged (NOT BULK) food items in a bag by your mailbox, and your letter carrier will see to it that it makes its way to FamilyWorks Food Bank!
Also, head over to your neighborhood Wallingford Post Office branch for some great food and fun in the sun!
Thanks in advance for your support!
Don’t forget to get ready for the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Food Drive on May 9th! Leave your non-perishable, packaged (not bulk!) donation in a bag by your mailbox, and your letter carrier will get it to FamilyWorks Food Bank.
There will also be food and fun at your local Wallingford branch of the USPS – more info like times and details to be coming soon, so check back frequently!
May 9, 2009 The annual US Postal Carriers’ Food Drive will be in full effect on May 9th. Food donated to your mail carrier will make its way to the FamilyWorks Food Bank, so thank you in advance for your efforts! For more information, click here.
Last year, through the Wallingford Post Office, our community collected 21,809 pounds of food – all donated to FamilyWorks Food Bank! That was a 16% increase over 2007. Let’s surpass it again this year!
FamilyWorks is having a baby supplies drive on Saturday, February 21 (TOMORROW!) from 10am-1pm at the Wallingford QFC! Please stop by and drop off some baby food, baby cereal, wipes, or diapers in sizes 4, 5, and 6 if you can spare some. Thank you!
The Wallingford community’s Not a Number Kids Club presented a giant check representing the $308 they gathered in donation to Familyworks’ Yes We Can canned food drive and fundraiser, in which the community was asked to raise $44 or 44 cans over 44 days in honor of the inauguration of the 44th president. The Kids Club also donated over 44 cans, as well as the $308, which represented $44 multiplied by 7, the age of Obama’s youngest daughter.
We’re having some technical cell-phone-picture-to-computer issues at the moment, but we hope to get a photo of the kids up soon. Thank you, Not a Number!
